Sailors’ Society Loses a Dear Friend

It is with shock and sadness that we mourn the passing of Rev Millen Adams who had had a long association with the Sailors Society, from 1977 – 2005.

During his term of office Millen undertook several major projects such as the amalgamation of the three Seafarers Centres into a combined Sailors’ Society, Mission to Seafarers and Apostleship of the Sea venture.

Millen was also involved in bringing about;

  • A closer relationship between the Sailors’ Societies around the world
  • He co-wrote the Sailors’ Society Service book and compiled an Interpreters’ Directory to assist foreign seafarers who are hospitalised
  • He also served both the Highway Hospice and Musgrave Rotary Club, receiving the prestigious Paul Harris award. After his term as President he received Honorary membership of the club.

He is survived by a son, three daughters, six grandchildren and a sister.

We give thanks for his valuable contribution not only to the Sailors Society but to the lives of those who knew him.
