The Sailors’ Society which is celebrating its 200th anniversary this year lead the Sea Sunday Celebrations in N-shed together the other faith based organization that work in the port. They were joined by the joyous voices of the Umlazi based St Augustine Anglican choir, The Army Band and a fiery and inspirational sermon from Reverend Linda Madindi, Bishop of the Natal Coastal District of the Methodist Church.
Ethekwini Municipality sent a message of support via Councillor Nompumelelo Sithole who represented Mayor, Zandile Gumede.
This annual service highlights the challenges seafarers face every day and follows a set format of spoken words and music.
It is also a fund raising opportunity for the Chaplian’s Fund to further its mission of changing the lives of seafarers and their families.
