Sailors’ Society 200 Year Celebrations at the Durban Maritime Museum

 

Always game for a celebration, the group of volunteers at the Maritime Museum in Durban called “Friends of the Maritime Museum” joined in the 200 Years Celebration of the Sailors’ Society.

For several years this dedicated group has done wonders in renovating the vessels, the minesweeper the SAS DURBAN, the steam driven tug the JR MORE and the pilot boat ULUNDI, three of the exhibits. Some work during the week and others on Saturdays.

However each Saturday at the stroke of 12 all down tools for coffee and cake in the saloon of the SAS Durban.

So why not use this opportunity to celebrate? Most of the volunteers are ex seafarers having had experience in various maritime professions.
