Every Christmas the Sailors’ Society and other Christian mission organisations distribute gifts to all the seafarers in port.

The gifts are collected or made during the year and are packed for distribution on one morning at the Mission in Bayhead.

“Please diarise 20 November 2018 for the packing of the gifts at the Seafarers Mission,Bayhead,” says Linda van Schalkwyk.

So far we have collected 987 pairs of mittens this year knitted by our band of enthusiastic knitters. Our total of mugs stands at 374.

We need more mittens and scarves as well as donations for mugs, please!

To those who have made donations and knitted, a BIG THANK YOU!

Last year we packed 1200 gifts, so let’s see if we can better that this year.

Of course, this means we need helpers, so PLEASE give us a hand. We start packing at 09h00 and last year with
some rapid response, we finished by lunch time.

It is a lot of work but fun as well, and you will get something to eat and drink!

For more information or wish to contribute please contact Linda on 031 2660695 or on e mail – office@saiss.co.za
